How To Measure Eye Bolt?

There are several ways to measure eye bolts. The two most important measurements are rated load capacity and thread size. Our heaviest eyebolts in HengOu catalog are rated in capacities ranging from 460 lbs to 40000 lbs per bolt. These capacities are for vertical loads only. Any regular load may significantly reduce the maximum capacity of the eyebolts.

Thread size is indicated by 2 digits. The first is to measure the diameter from the male thread on one side to the male thread on the other. The second part of the measurement is the number of threads per inch, usually classified as fine threads (UNF) or coarse threads (UNC). Coarse threads have fewer threads per inch than fine threads. All standard Sail Rigging eyebolts are coarse threaded.

Eyebolts can also be measured by their other dimensions. These include the outer diameter of the eye ring, the inner diameter and the length of the threaded shank. For shoulder eyebolts, the distance from the center of the ring to the bottom of the shoulder and the length of the shoulder flange are also available. All other dimensions can be extrapolated from these measurements.
