Small components of lifting ring nuts with large load-bearing capacity

The lifting ring nut is a lifting connection with an integral annular lifting ring and internal threads. Its core function is to provide a safe and reliable lifting connection point for a component with external threads, such as a shaft, bolt, or specially machined screw hole, for equipment lifting, handling, traction, or fixation.

·Ordinary nut: used for fastening connections, bearing clamping force parallel to the axis.
·Eye nut: Used for lifting and hoisting, it can withstand complex multi-directional loads, especially radial tensile and impact forces.

Its design strictly follows the principles of mechanics to ensure safe use under rated load.

Core structure and working principle
1. Structural composition:
·Hanging ring: a load-bearing body, usually circular or D-shaped.
·Nut body: a cylindrical body with precision internal threads, integrated with the lifting ring.
·Supporting surface: The plane where the bottom of the nut contacts the surface of the equipment, which is a critical part for transmitting pressure.
2. Working principle:
·The lifting ring nut is screwed into the bolt or stud of the suspended equipment through its internal thread.
·When lifting equipment (such as hooks) lifts heavy objects through lifting rings, the load is transmitted to the nut body through the lifting rings.
·The key "self-locking" effect: In an ideal vertical lifting state, the load will cause the threads of the lifting ring nut to bite tighter with the threads of the connected part. At the same time, the supporting surface will be tightly pressed against the surface of the suspended equipment, dispersing most of the load in the form of pressure, thereby reducing the bending stress borne by the thread root and greatly improving the bearing capacity.

Main types and technical standards
1. Classified by standards and appearance:
·DIN 582 type (European/common type): This is the most common type, with a circular portion in a nearly circular regular shape, mature manufacturing technology, and the widest application.
·GB/T 825 (National Standard): Similar to DIN standard, it is a national standard in China.
·Other special types: such as metric, imperial thread standards, or special designs for specific industries (such as shipping, aerospace).
Classified by manufacturing material:
·Carbon steel: the most common, the surface is usually treated with rust prevention such as galvanizing (white zinc plating, color zinc plating), blackening, etc. Suitable for general industrial environments.
·Grade: High quality carbon structural steel with grades of 20, 25, and 35 is commonly used.
·Stainless steel: mainly used in corrosive environments such as food, chemical, marine and other fields.
·Brand: 304 (A2), 316 (A4) stainless steel.
·Alloy steel: Used in applications with extremely high strength requirements, it undergoes heat treatment to achieve higher mechanical properties.
Classified by manufacturing process:
·Forging forming: mainstream process. Forging can eliminate internal defects in metals, such as pores and slag inclusions, allowing for continuous and complete metal flow lines, resulting in higher strength and toughness. High quality lifting ring nuts are all forged.
·Casting molding: Low cost, but may have internal defects such as shrinkage holes and sand holes. Its strength and safety are much lower than forgings, and it is generally not recommended for important load-bearing applications.

Ring nuts are widely used in all fields that require temporary or permanent lifting connections:
·Mechanical equipment manufacturing and installation: providing lifting points for large machine tools, injection molding machines, compressors, and other equipment.
·Mold industry: used for the installation, disassembly, and handling of large injection molds, die-casting molds, and stamping molds.
·Energy and Heavy Industry: Used for lifting components such as generator rotors and turbine blades in wind power, hydropower, and thermal power equipment.
·Transportation: Used for lifting assemblies such as engines and gearboxes in shipbuilding, railway locomotive, and freight car maintenance.
·Construction engineering: used for the hoisting and tensioning system fixation of prefabricated components.
·Stage lighting and truss: used for fixing and hoisting lighting and sound equipment.

Warning: Incorrect use is the main cause of accidents!
1. Installation direction:
·It is necessary to ensure that the supporting surface of the lifting ring nut is completely and tightly adhered to the surface of the lifted object, with no gaps in between. If there is a slope, a wedge-shaped pad must be used to level it.
·The ideal direction of force is perpendicular to the axis of the nut. It is allowed to bear in any direction perpendicular to the axis, but it is strictly prohibited to pull diagonally in the direction of screw lifting, as this will generate a huge bending moment, causing thread damage or ring fracture.
2. Tightening requirements:
·It is necessary to use a specialized wrench (such as a hook wrench) to fully tighten and ensure that the supporting surface is in full contact. Hand tightening is definitely not enough.
3. Regular inspection and scrapping:
·Pre use inspection: Before each use, it is necessary to check for visible cracks, permanent deformation (elliptical ring), severe thread wear or corrosion.
·Regular professional inspection: In frequently used or overloaded environments, professional personnel should conduct regular inspections.
·Scrap standard: Once any defects are found, they must be immediately scrapped, and it is strictly prohibited to repair, use or operate with defects.

Although the lifting ring nut is a small component, it is a crucial link in the lifting safety chain.
