Hook safety cannot be ignored

The hook is a critical component in lifting operations that connects the lifting machinery to the load, and its safety directly impacts the security of personnel, equipment, and property. Adhering to this guideline is fundamental to preventing accidents.

Material and Manufacturing Process of Hooks

1· Material: High-end hooks are typically made from premium alloy steel (such as AISI 4140, 4340, etc.), which undergoes heat treatment to achieve a perfect combination of high strength and toughness. The use of ordinary carbon steel or cast iron is strictly prohibited.
· Manufacturing Process:
2Forging: Improves the internal grain structure of metal, enhancing strength and impact resistance.
3. Heat Treatment: Includes quenching (to increase hardness) and tempering (to improve toughness and eliminate internal stress).
4. Surface Treatment: Typically galvanized (anti-rust), painted, or directly oiled.

Safety usage regulations and inspections
Pre use inspection (daily/before each use)
1. Appearance inspection: Check the overall appearance of the hook for cracks and deformation (especially the hook tip and hook back).
2. Tongue inspection: Check if the safety buckle is intact, functioning properly (able to close automatically), the spring is effective, and there is no excessive wear.
3. Wear inspection: Measure the opening degree of the hook cavity and compare it with the new product. Any significant increase in aperture indicates danger.
4. Rotation inspection: For the rotating hook with bearings, check whether its rotation is smooth and whether there is any jamming.
5. Corrosion and damage: Check for severe rust, arc burns, or other physical damage.

Hook safety cannot be ignored

Correct usage method
1. The hook cavity is always under force: the load must act on the center of the hook cavity, and it is strictly prohibited to hang the load on the hook tip or apply it to the seat belt buckle.
2. Avoid load imbalance: When using multiple hooks, ensure that the load is evenly distributed to avoid overloading a single hook.
3. Prohibit lateral pulling: The design of the hook cannot withstand lateral forces, as lateral pulling can cause the hook to bend or break.
4. Use seat belt buckle: Ensure that the seat belt buckle is always closed to prevent the rigging from falling off.
5. Smooth operation: Avoid sudden starts and stops, and reduce impact loads.

Safety is the highest criterion for rigging operations. Although the hook is small, it is one of the most critical connection points in the lifting system.
